First the laptop started to evolve into a notebook and as they grew smaller the common device was a netbook, but now Dell has gone a little farther and taken the notebook towards the Educational Netbook.
The new gadget, the Dell Latitude 2100, is aimed at use by school kids and is hard to crack given that not only is it wrapped in rubber to allow the protection that is needed when an expensive gadget is in the hands of kids, but it also is great for adults that need a laptop that is durable for adventure and trekking.
However, on the other hand, the device is also much heavier than traditional netbooks and is much thicker. Add in the fact that it utilizes a six cell battery pack and the base gives the laptop a sideways look.
However, the battery base is not so bad once you open it up and realize that you can use it as a lap table, making it easier to type and much more comfortable on your wrists.
Add in the fact that the keys are raised and the touchpad is plenty spacious and it’s actually kind of fun to use.
In terms of connectivity, the educational netbook offers USB, VGA, microphone jacks, and a headphone jack as well as two USB ports on the other side along with an Ethernet port in the case that you need a bit more space for plug-ons.
Topped off with an activity lit, and you can monitor your child to see if they are working or simply surfing the net.
