Pictures of Motorola’s tablet, the Xoom, have been intercepted from Best Buy, the American retail shop, and published on Engadget, the tech site. According to the ad, the tablet is set to hit the shelves 24th February and the cost will be nearly $800. Most tech experts agree it’s far too expensive.
Gizmodo rants and raves, “Ok, so the guts are nothing short of amazing. The Xoom by Motorola is stocked with 1G RAM, NVidia graphics adapter, dual core CPU’s, a front camera, HD camcorder, and an upgradable 3G to 4G. Still, $800 seems a bit steep even for that. The bad news doesn’t stop there.”
The shock is that you are forced to register for a monthly subscription to engaged the WiFi, but can cancel after the first month.
Engadget goes on, “This is the sweetest deal, but considering they do get the 4G going, it might become a worthwhile offer.”
The stunning news is that at its premiere in the Consumer Electronics Show it was given the title “Best Device” in the entire show.
Motorola’s ad campaign for the Xoom targets Apple and Apple’s consumers directly. The ads accuse Apple of trying to establish a 1984, Big Brother atmosphere of limitation. Motorola, of course, claims to be the open way of freedom and choice.
The first showing of the Xoom to the masses was during their minute Super Bowl ad on 6th February. There Motorola likened iPhone and iPad users to zombies.
