More gadgets from Google to boggle the mind and savvy users will find a whole new realm of possibilities in Google’s Shared Spaces. This offshoot of the Wave technology will allow you to utilize any of fifty different gadgets for everything from organizing a carpool to putting together a business proposition, and you can play chess, too.
Shared Spaces is described by TechWWWorld as a design that will “give developers the ability to work on new widgets by making use of the Wave which they can then use these widgets can be used in a whole host of areas such as e-mail messages.” It’s interesting to note that right after that description there’s a picture of the Draw Board for Google Wave with the screen showing the words “damn confusing” scrawled across it.
Google Wave was introduced in May 2009, but apparently there was not enough interest to retain the Wave as a standalone version, so the technology is being applied to other applications, namely Shared Spaces at present. The idea is that users will be able to choose a gadget from the offered array, and then share that gadget and chat in real time via their account with Google, Twitter or Yahoo.
Google explains that when users pick a gadget, they are taken to a newly created gadget space, from which sharing with a friend is simple. Users can update the gadget space separately or in collaboration while sharing ideas and input. Initial users of Shared Spaces mention a few glitches, but hopefully they will be ironed out in the near future.
