Despite the fact that a whole lot of technology is used to create a cell phone, most of us have to deal with the poor reception factor. It can be a little frustrating when you have to keep going to the exact spot in your house every time you need to make a call just so that you could get complete reception. Besides, most of the service providers only make claims and even iPhones do not really make much of a difference, for that matter.

So here is a device that basically helps you deal with all the cell phone reception problems that you might have. The device is called the Cell phone Signal Extender, and as the name suggests the device extends the signal for your cell phone. All you would have to do to get a good signal in your office or home is place the antenna that comes with the device near a window. After which, you would have to attach the cable to the unit or the base booster. The device assures 2500 sq feet of an area that has prime signals for the purpose of excellent reception. However, for the Cell phone Signal Extender to work well, it is imperative that you have at least some signal.

There are several models of the Cell phone Signal Extender available. Thus, it is important that you choose a model that is best compatible with your cell phone.

The models include the 800 MHz model. This model works well with the Verizon, Cingular (AT&T) and Alltel cell phone.

Then there is the 1990 MHz model. This model works best with Metro PCS, T-Mobile, Suncom, Sprint and Cricket cell phones. Other than this, there is a third model of the device. This is the Dual – Band model and works well with almost all the service providers including Alltel, Cingular, Sprint, Suncom, Cricket, T-Mobile and Verizon.

The Cell phone signal Extender is quite user friendly and extremely easy to install. The device also comes with a tell–all manual. Besides, there are several mounting options that you could choose from when you install the device. The device improves the cell phone signals in a dramatic manner thus, increasing the signal reception capacity of your cell phone.

The kit of the device also comes with hardware requirements that might be needed for the installation. The device is pretty compact and small and is not too bulky either. The Dual Band and the 800 MHz models of the device are compatible with the CDMA, TDMA AMPS, GSM, EDGE, GPRS, 1*RTT and EVDO networks; while, the 1990 MHz model is compatible only with the TDMA, GPS and the CDMA networks.

The device is a boon especially for those of you whose offices and homes are located in areas where cell phone signals do not go above the 1 bar mark at all. The cell phone signal extender could cost you anything from $ 250 to $ 400 approximately, depending on the model that you buy.

Just so people know, I think the device you are talking about is one of the products from Wireless Extenders (Wi-Ex). They produce both 800MHz and 1900MHz models, as well as the popular dual band YX510:
    Dual Band Signal Extender Review

It is generally recommended that AT&T/Cingular users go with the dual band model, as their frequency usage varies significantly around the country. Alltel and Verizon use a mix, but it is easier to check which is is use in a particular area:

T-mobile, Sprint, MetroPCS and Cricket all use the 1900MHz band only, as your article suggests.
