New disease testing device revealed

Scientists in Britain have announced that they have developed a small device that can diagnose different types of fatal diseases within minutes of use. The handheld device analyzes a sample of a patient’s urine, saliva, or blood, and can detect diseases if they are present. The medical gadget is officially named the CliniHub.

The patient’s samples can be placed in several ‘ports’ on the device, where chemicals can change colour if a disease is detected. An obvious comparison is the pregnancy test, which uses a similar colour-changing system.

Cambridge Consultants as well as Xenbio Fluidics, both from the state of California, developed the device. According to Patrick Pordage, a spokesperson for Cambridge Consultants, the invention of the device could be “the future” of detecting and diagnosing fatal diseases. He said that if doctors are able to analyze diseases in patients more quickly, they will be able to treat them more effectively and save even more lives.

The CliniHub will likely have a price under $100, and three fatal diseases can currently be detected by the device. Namely, MRSA, breast cancer, and another unrevealed disease can all be analyzed and detected by the medical device.

Soon, however, over 20 diseases will be able to be detected, and more GP surgeries will be able to make use of the product, according to its developers. And in the future, a version that consumers will be able to use at home may be developed. The CliniHub, while still in a primitive stage, could make big waves in the medical world in the future.

Talkatoo helps parents separated as kids go to school for the first time

For many parents, separation anxiety can be a problem when their children go to school in the day. When children go off to school for the first time, it can be sad for some parents to not have their children with them throughout the day.

On many mornings, as lunches are made and bags are packed, parents can experience this separation anxiety, especially for those with children who have not gone to school before.

Some parents wish that they could talk to their children throughout the day, or even leave them with a simple message. Many mothers and fathers feel the same way, and even more so if their children are entering their first year of school.

Sheila Wright, a parent from Bloomfield Hills, has experienced this first-hand, stating that leaving their kids was a “tug on the heartstrings”. She would often leave notes in her children’s lunch boxes, but one morning, she decided to go even further by creating the Talkatoo.
The Talkatoo is a small device that will allow parents with separation anxiety to record a message of up to 30 seconds for their children. Children can listen to the message throughout the day, and the message can be erased and recorded over at any time. Psychologists have praised the device, saying that it is a good alternative to a lunch box note, which can be positive for parents who are concerned about being separated with their child. However, if severe cases of separation anxiety occur, parents should look to receive help from a counselor or a teacher.

The standout difference in the model is the menu, which is simplified down and only offers the options ‘browse map’ and ‘navigate to’ which allows users to quickly utilize the device while driving without any extra hassle or distraction. Additionally, in order to keep the screen glove friendly both icons are much larger than in standard automobile Tom Tom’s.

The advanced lane guidance also offers motorists’ additional safety since it shows a 3D picture of each upcoming junction so that riders can stay safe and relaxed as they navigate roadways.
