Digital Version has announced the release of a GiGo Digital Freeview Recorder which the company has aptly declared is the first USB recorder to be available on the computer storage market.

The small single tune digital receiver has access to EPG without access to a hard drive built into it. In place of the hard drive, it has three USB ports that will allow users to record in MPEG-2 format directly from any storage media that is placed into the ports.

Three ports allow users to multi-task while using the USB such as viewing a program while recoding one as well.

Approximately, every hour of programming will use up 2GB of storage space which can be used to hold files or for playback of any gadget that can slide into the USB port and supports MPEG-2.

Rob Musk, the head of retail sales at Digital Vision commented that the GiGO is an affordable approach to media storage and recording as it allows a 500GB hard drive to connect to the gadget easily. Thus, you can essentially record the contents of your PC to watch later while travelling or on the move for other reasons.

A simple overview of the product is that it is place to store DVR programming so that your computer is not overburdened from the data or slowed down and at a cost of £69.99 it is a quite affordable storage solution for permanent programme storage.
