Everyone has a different point of view with any product and review and these superzoom camers are either like the dSLR type cameras which can be easily carried around or can also be like te overpowered compact cameras which do not fit into your pockets. The all new Sony Cyber Shot DSC-H50 is the elegantly designed 9.1 megapixel superzoom camera that sports a 15x optical zoom Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar lens.

The Design

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H50 comes with a well contoured SLR style grip to hold it firmly with the right hand and there is also plenty of space between the lens and grip for fingers to firmly hold the camera with single hand. The zoom control is one of the most important design factors of the camera which is build around its zooming capabilities. There is also a spinning selector wheel which surrounds the normal click pad. The wheel is designed of raised ridges for better grip that is enough to spin easily but a bit narrow. There is also a large screen which is around 3 inch and 230,000 pixel LCD which takes its place after the Sony Alpha dSLR with the fold out arm that is attached below the electrical viewfinder. You can tilt the screen to towards the right from the camera which can face either down and up for overhead and low level shooting.

Must similar to other superzoom cameras the DSC-H50 extends its lens when it is turned on. As Sony is still keen on its proprietary formats you would also receive a Sony specific data transfer connection with the gadget. Rather than USB you would receive a special cable with USB connection and AV out. The digital camera also records to the memory stick of Sony and Memory stick pro duo formats which can be useful for those who have Sony Ericsson cell phones.

The Features

This camera includes an impressive amount of tweakable options. When you just hit the menu buttons you have instant access to the bracketing level, white balance, flash intensity, colour settings, noise reduction, dynamic range and much more applications. Even when it is in fully automatic mode there are options to adjust the face direction, scene recognition and red eye reduction. The 15x zoom lens boasts of 31-465mm focal length which is same to the 35mm cameras. The large three inch CCD and the Bionz processor would handle pictures whereas the features include face detection of high speed subject tracking, dual anti blur with super steady shot image stabilization of Sony and the adjustable smile shutter. The camera is capable of shooting raw files with high definition still images but the video would only be VGA wit the sound just mono. You can playback the picture slideshow on your television with music through the one touch slideshow buttons but again here the proprietary HDMI cable would be required. When in playback mode the device can filter images whether there are just faces or just faces of children in the picture.
