The tales of travelers which is well known for its outstanding work in LEGO Star Wars games has now put together some of the very best of the recent years including the winning formula for this fully licensed game. However, the game does not follow it own playbook in order to finish The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. This actually does not mean that the game is a total flop as the basic foundation is very strong as you will also find this game full of excitement, cohesiveness which can be hard to find in other games.
The Story
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian basically follows the story found in the second book in C.S the Lewis’ Epic Tales for children but is also pops up in some extra sequence to make the game unique with an effort to connect the 1,300 year old gap in the Narnia story. Right from the time the children of Pevensie left the magical land, the talking beasts have been taken into the wilderness and Narnia has been driven over by the Telmarines. Therefore, it is up to the player to take control over nearly 20 different characters which also includes the talking mouse and help the titular hero in fighting the tyrannical ruler King Miraz.
The Game
The adventures in the game spans over six different stages with an excellent variety of locations as you are offered the source material. During this entire six to eight hour adventure game, you will have to guide Pevensies and also the different mythical creatures from the impressive and castle crashes, large scale battles and escapes and also through several forests, ruins and caves. However, it is fairly linear trek throughout the adventure, but you will also have to choose some of the tracks that are tackled.
The Gameplay
As the gameplay can get a bit repetitive at a few times, you will also come across a variety of puzzle solving with stunning action. The action in the game is pretty simple as every character has just two buttons to attack where the light button is more often used for simple interactions. Although most of the encounters with Telmarines are undemanding, the action does have its favorite part. You will also have fun as you use the trees to smash the hordes of Telmarine soldiers and when you ride around the back of the giant to bas catapults.
Just like the combat, this adventure and puzzle gaming elements are just the basic. In fact, some of the puzzles in the game just involve finding the piece of lever and gulling the side lever, but as this game is mainly aimed at kids, it would be hard and exciting for them to get through the game. However, the more fun puzzle in the game would require you to use a specific character in order to complete the task. This game also lets a second player to pop into the action at any time when you press some button. This can be rather more fun when two players get moving with the same task.
