Garmin has announced that they made their entrance into the mobile phone market with the “Nuvifone”. The Nuvifone is a fully touch screen device that is the first of its kind to integrate a 3.5G phone with an internet browser, personal navigation, messaging and data connectivity. The 3.5” touch-screen sports an uncluttered look featuring three icons – “Call”, “Search”, and “View Map”. When the Nuvifone is docked onto its vehicle mount, the GPS automatically turns on, enabling the hands-free calling. The GPS comes loaded with maps of North America or Western and Eastern Europe and contains all that you would expect from a full-featured PND, as well as a few extras. The device is Garmin’s first to include Google’s local search capability, which allows users to search for numerous locations like “Coffee shops” and “restaurants”.

This search is rating based and thus you are assured of the most relevant results every single time. Once you enter the location, Google will search through its database and sort out the results by comparing the user’s current location and relevance. For the forgetful, the device has an “Where am I” feature that lets car drivers find their car by marking the position in which it was last taken off from the vehicle mount. This can serve as a major boon when parking in a crowded parking lot or an unfamiliar spot. The Nuvifone simply put, is an all-in-one device offering seamless integration of utility and function into a single package. It is widely touted to be the revolutionary product mobile phone and GPS users around the world would be longing for it.

The Nuviphone is the ultimate multi-tasker and calls can be easily initiated using the “call” button, and selecting a name from the contact list or typing the number in the on-screen keyboard. When you are trying to juggle between getting in the vehicle and talking on the phone, the Nuviphone makes the transition easy and simple. When the device is docked into the mount, it turns on the GPS and switches to navigation menu, thereby enabling the hands free menu making sure you never miss a conversation and is still able to route to your destination with ease. Those of you, who are familiar with Garmin’s nuvi product line, will feel right at home when using the nuviphone’s navigation features. It allows you to quickly locate a specific street address, establishment name and search for a destination using the device’s built-in database featuring numerous places of database. Even if a people take a wrong turn, it automatically recalculates the route and gets them back on track and even speaks the names of the streets along the way. Besides navigation, the nuvifone also allows you access to Garmin online, which is basically an online service that offers instant updates of information such as real time traffic, fuel prices, weather forecasts, local events, news reports and sport scores.
