Gadgets, Mobile Phones

Amongst the several products that will see the light of the day at the 2008 CES is the Projector by Microvision. In today’s age of high definition projectors, Microvision has managed to come up with a Projector that is the size of a PDA.

In fact, the company has managed to break down the mechanics and technicalities of a projector to such an extent that now you could have the projector incorporated into your own mobile phone. The company will finally launch its shrunken product at the CES 2008.

The projector makes use of the PicoP technology, which is a projector technology. The PDA size projector is only 7 mm thick. The prototype of the device has been given the code name of SHOW and is expected to create a sort of rage at the CES in Las Vegas. The projector has actually been embedded within a device that is as small as a PDA, for professionals who are always on the move. The company has also released a video of the projector in action.

The performance and functionality of the projector is quite good for its size. The image projected by the device remains in focus all the time. Besides, there is no slouch as such. The projector can throw an image up to a distance of about 2.5 meters. The resolution of the projected image is 848 * 480 pixels. Apart from this, the device has a battery life of around 2.5 hours, which according to experts is not very bad.

The Chief Executive Officer and President of Microvision, Alexander Tokman said that the product was devised to meet the ever increasing demands for enhanced video display functions. The device is basically a solution that allows users to enjoy a better gaming, browsing and movie experience. He went on to say that although there has been a drastic increase in the number of people who are subscribing to mobile phone and multi media devices, there are several consumers who find it difficult to adapt to the ever changing technology because of the tiny packages that technology comes in.

The SHOW projector from Microvision allows you to share a range of videos. You could also share MSN Newscasts, YouTube videos, PowerPoint Presentations, Google Search Results, Photographs – both in large and small, and feature films amongst several others. Besides, the images projected by the device are in full color and instead of the 2 inch display the images are in hi – resolution format. The projector also has a QVGA display.

According to sources, the company has been working on the PDA sized projector for ten years now. Microvision is pretty hopeful that the product will be a hit in the market. Although, as of now the exact price of the projector remains undetermined, it is expected that the product will be especially popular amongst higher levels of professionals. Besides, the projector is not expected to be too expensive and thus can be purchased by all sorts of gizmo enthusiasts as well.
