The GeForce 8800 GT 512MB by NVIDIA hit the markets in the month of October last year. The graphics card gained immense popularity for its performance ever since. It has a 65nm GPU and has a board design with a single slot. The GeForce 8800 GT was expected to be priced at a nominal $200. However, due to the scarce availability of the graphics card, it is being sold for $300.

The NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT has 754 million transistors and comes with a combination oh HD video decode acceleration. It also has a post processing feature that ensures clear, accurate and smooth picture and video quality.

The Graphics card has a 256 bit memory interface with a 512 MB buffer size. The GeForce 8800 GT also features HDCP support and HDMI support. It has a video processor that is programmable and discrete. Since the video processor is discrete, the CPU usage is much lower and the movies or videos run in quite a smooth manner. The Hardware Decode Acceleration provides for a smooth playback with VC-1, WMV, H.264, MPEG-2 HD and SD movies.

The GeForce 8800 GT has a unified make that allocates the processing power dynamically and thus provides for a more enjoyable gaming experience. It is also the first DirectX 10 GPU with a full shader model in the world. The Shader Model 4.0 delivers high levels of realism when it comes to graphics and a good film quality as well.

The graphics card has SLI technology incorporated in it. Thus, it can deliver up to two times the performance of one single graphics card. This it does by allowing two cards to run at the same time, which means that they are run in parallel. Thus, with the SLI technology the GeForce 8800 GT drastically increases the quality of gaming and the performance as well.

The GeForce 8800 GT provides for nothing less than excellent quality images and great accuracy. This accuracy is provided at the rate of ultra – fast frames. The 16x Anti – aliasing allows fast lighting wipes out rough and dull edges, thus, producing sharper image quality.

The floating point of 128 MB on the GeForce 8800 GT is two times as precise as the previous generation and comes with a High Dynamic Range (HDR). The shader process on the device makes use of a unique physics computation, thus it stimulates the effects that are produced on the CPU. All this is done as the CPU is free to run the game engine.

Besides this, the Dual 400MHz RAMDACs on the GeForce 8800 GT supports a QXGA display that produces ultra high quality. The Edge enhancement feature not only sharpens the image, but also provides for better contrast around the objects and the lines. The device also eliminates all the artifacts that are useless, thus reducing the noise drastically. The SD and HD TV outputs that are integrated on the GeForce 8800 GT support resolution up to 1080p and improve the functionality of the output.
